MARE NOSTRUM: Paolo FRESU - Richard GALLIANO - Jan LUNDGREN
Country: Italy-France-Sweden
Italian trumpeter Paolo Fresu, French accordionist Richard Galliano and Swedish pianist Jan Lundgren make up the Mare Nostrum (Latin for the Mediterranean Sea) trio. When Mare Nostrum released their first album in 2007, critics in many countries were unanimous in their opinion that these three musicians had unlocked the mystery of timeless beauty. They have created with their music a symbiosis of cultural heritages and ideologies, have found harmony in combining the timbres of their instruments and have become one of the most popular bands in Europe. The trio has already performed over 150 concerts in more than 20 countries. In addition, each of the musicians has enjoyed success in different areas: Paolo takes part in a variety of projects from films to ballet, Richard works comfortably in both jazz and the classics, and Jan has recorded over 50 CDs as a leader and sideman.
Mare Nostrum II, released in 2016, was one of the most anticipated albums of the year and marked the return of this European superband.
