HERBIE HANCOCK
Country: USA
Herbie Hancock is an American pianist, keyboard player, bandleader and composer, a true all-round professional. He joined an elite group of jazz musicians in the early 1960s. During his 50-year career, he has tried his hand at a variety of genres, thus earning the nickname ‘Chameleon’. Herbie is a UNESCO goodwill ambassador. He was also one of the people behind the establishment of International Jazz Day.
Herbie has won various awards, including 14 Grammys. His River: The Joni Letters was the second album in the history of jazz to win a Grammy in the prestigious Album of the Year category.
At the festival in Lviv, Herbie will present his latest project and perform with a new line-up of stars. Herbie always knows how to be modern and innovative. And his performance at Alfa Jazz Fest 2017 will be no exception. The young multi-instrumentalist and two-time Grammy Award winner Terrace Martin will bring some new colours to Herbie’s musical palette.
