Itamar Borochov

Country: Israel

Israeli trumpeter Itamar Borochov is the winner of the LetterOne RISING STARS Jazz Award 2020 (European edition). The prestigious award provided the winner with an unprecedented opportunity to perform at popular jazz festivals in Europe, including the Leopolis Jazz Fest.

Borochov started playing the trumpet when he was eleven, inspired by trumpeters such as Louis Armstrong, Clark Terry, Miles Davis, Winton Marsalis, and other outstanding performers. In 2007, Borochov moved to New York to attend The New School and Barry Harris’s weekly workshops.

Borochov has recorded three of his own albums, and appears as a sideman in the recordings of other performers. His latest release Blue Nights (Laborie Jazz 2019) is a nine-track multi-cultural joyride of enchanting lyricism, exotic motifs, anthemic builds and virtuosic expression.

Borochov has toured four continents and performed at prestigious venues such as  Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, SummerStage at Central Park, Blue Note NY, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, Bimhuis, Flagey, and international festivals including Roskilde, Montreal Jazz Festival, Ottawa Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, Red Sea Jazz Festival and others.
