Herbie Hancock, a true icon of modern music, will perform at Alfa Jazz Fest 2017
An American pianist, keyboardist, bandleader and composer with an incredible artistic career.
Herbie Hancock is a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. The musician initiated the proclamation of the International Jazz Day celebrated annually on April 30 since 2012. Also, Herbie Hancock is the founder of the International Committee of Artists for Peace (ICAP).
He is the owner of various awards, including 14 Grammies. His disc “River: The Joni Letters” became the second jazz album in history that received a Grammy Award in the most prestigious category, the «Album of the Year». It is hard to recall musicians having more influence on the development of acoustic and electronic jazz and R&B than Herbie Hancock. He tried his hand in a variety of genres, sometimes causing outrage of his fans because of radical style changes.
Herbie Hancock will bring his new project to Lviv and perform with the star cast as follows:
- guitarist Lionel Loueke;
- bassist James Genus;
- drummer Vinnie Colaiuta.
New colors in the musical performance palette will be introduced by Terrace Martin, a young and trendy multi-instrumentalist, rapper, singer and producer from Los Angeles, the two-time Grammy Award winner, whose music combines styles from funk and jazz to classic and soul.
