Leopolis Jazz Weekend will be started with the concert of Gregory Porter
On June 28, Leopolis Jazz Weekend will be opened by the concert of one of the most famous soul vocalists and two-time Grammy Award winner - Gregory Porter. This concert was held within the festival in 2017. His musical style successfully combines jazz, soul and gospel, and the unique timbre of his voice can be recognized from the first notes. Almost every album or song from his album has been nominated for a Grammy.
His debut album, Water, was released in 2010 and was nominated for a Grammy for best jazz vocal album. A composition called ‘Be Good’, from his eponymous second album was nominated for a Grammy for best traditional R&B performance. The album Liquid Spirit went platinum, was among the top 10 albums on the British charts and won a Grammy Award for best jazz vocal album. Gregory’s next work, Take Me to the Alley, won a Grammy in 2017. The next albums were also nominated.
Gregory Porter is one of the first stars who supported Ukrainians and hold a charity concert in March 2022.
