Branford Marsalis is one of the famous American jazz and classical saxophonists and composers. He is the eldest son of Ellis Marsalis, a pianist and teacher from New Orleans, the father of the legendary musical Marsalis dynasty, whose most well known son is Branford along with his brother Wynton.
The winner of three Grammy Awards, Branford Marsalis has been one of the top American jazz saxophonists and leader of his own quartet for over quarter of a century. The Branford Marsalis Quartet is considered to be one of the most significant jazz groups around today.
In addition to his jazz career, Branford is also well-known as a classical musician. The owner of a magical and instantly recognizable soprano saxophone sound, Branford often performs with the Symphony Orchestra and is renowned for his interpretations of the music by Copland, Debussy, Mahler, Milhaud, and other composers.
