One of the most famous jazz musicians and composers of our time, Charlie Haden, will rejoice guests of the festival with his concert in Lviv on June 15, 2013.

The musician has participated as a leader and sideman in various bands - from the origins of free jazz with Ornette Coleman through improvised experiments with Keith Jarrett and the Liberation Music Orchestra to the classically clear and beautiful sound of his last group Quartet West (with this project outstanding contrabassist will perform on Alfa Jazz Fest 2013).

Charlie Haden collaborated with staggering number of musicians, including Hank Jones, Don Cherry, Dewey Redman, Jack DeJohnette, Michael Brecker, Paul Bley, Alice Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Lovano, John McLaughlin, Lee Konitz, Paul Motian, Roswell Rudd, Archie Shepp, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and the non-jazz stars Yoko Ono and Ringo Starr.

For more than 50 years of musical career, Charlie Haden for many times was recognized as the best contrabassist in reader polls of Down Beat, his records repeatedly were recognized by the critics as the best albums of the year.

Charlie Haden  is a  four time Grammy Award winner including the prestigious GRAMMY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD for this year, the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. He has received over 16 Grammy nominations. He is also recognized as a Jazz Master and received the NEA Jazz Masters Award in 2012 - the highest honor in jazz in the USA.
