John Patitucci is the American jazz contrabass player and bass guitarist of Italian origin, two times prize winner of Grammy award. John Patitucci is one of the few bassists, who plays bass guitar and contrabass equally masterful and inventively. His solo, session and composer activity, cooperation with other musicians covers all genres from classics and African-Cuban music to blues, pop music and jazz.

John Patitucci was born in New York in 1959, at ten he began to play bass guitar, and soon he began to write his own music. Being a teenager he became interested with contrabass and began to learn playing a piano. In the middle of 80s, after graduation from University of California state at classical bass class John Patitucci moves to Los-Angeles, where he continues the career of studio musician and jazz performer successfully.

The bassist has 13 solo albums. In addition, in the capacity of studio musician John Patitucci made records for great number of albums with such musicians as Bee Bee King, Bonnie Right, Chick Koria, Wane Shorter, George Benson, Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Gruzin, Natalie Kole, John Bon Jovie, Queen Latifa, Sting, McKoy Turner. In 1986 Patitucci was admitted as a member to National Record Academy.

John Patitucci was on tour throughout the world with his ensemble, and also with such jazz stars as Herby Hanckock, Stan Getz, Winton Marsalis, Joshua Redman, Michael Brecker, Randy Brecker, Freddy Habbard, Tony Williams…

Participation in Chick Korea’s groups Elektric Band and Akoustic Band  in 1985 promotes him to leading positions in the world of jazz. His first album, called simply John Patitucci, got to the first lines of jazz rating of Billboard magazine. Nineties turned to be specially generous for awards. Four years on end, from 1993 to 1996, Bass Player magazine recognized Patitucci the best jazz bassist. John also teaches at Telonius Monk Jazz Institute. In own projects of John Patitucci the leading modern jazzmen: John Skofield, Chris Potter, Bill Stewart, John Bizzly, Danylo Peres, Jack DiDjohnett, Joe Lovano, Bread Meldo, Brian Blade, Brenford Marsalis and many others participated in different times.
In Lviv John Patitucci will perform with his own trio consisting from Jon Cowherd and drummer Adam Cruz.
