Gino Vanelli is a Canadian singer, musician and composer of Italian origin, who works in  soul, pop rock, jazz, funk styles. Repeated nominee for Grammy award. During his 40 years career Gino Vanelli released about 20 albums.

Gino Vanelly was born in 1952 in music family in Canadian city Montreal. From his childhood he was fascinated with jazz and began to learn music theory and drum playing (his idols were Jean Krupa, Buddy Rich, Joe Morello, Elvin Johns). At 15 Jeano began to write songs, performing with pseudonymVann Elli. In the beginning of 70s the musician came to Los-Angeles, where he managed to sign the contract with A&M Records lable. After issue of the first albums and participation in the famous TV show Soul Train Gino Vanelly became really popular. The singer was on tour a lot, performing atsupport act for legendary Steve Wander, and in 1978 he got his first nomination for Grammy. Five from six of his albums released in 70s got into the hundredth best CDs according to version of Billboard. Flossy appearance and stage dramatism raised Vanelly to the category of “jazz sex symbol” of 70s. It’s interesting that this role never impeded music improvement of the performed and did not influence the quality of his music.

In 1981 the most successive Vanelly’s album Nightwalker, that included the incredibly popular singleLiving Inside Myself (he gave to the singer the fourth nomination for Grammy) was released. Then the album Black Cars (1985), which also became platinum, and Big Dreamers Never Sleep (1987), recorded at his own studio Blue Moon Studios appeared.

In some moment the singer became seriously interested with philosophy and theology, which inspired Gino Vanelly to creation of the album Inconsolable Man (1990). Search for sense of life diverted from music, Vanelly travelled a lot, visited Peru Ands and Japan, where he tried to find answers for his questions. It became the reason of long pauses between releases of albums. In 1995 the cycle of jazz songs Yonder Tree (1995) appeared. The singer considers his special achievement the right to perform before Pope John Paul II received then. Gino Vanelly continues to make records and go on tours actively.
