A trio of "Mare Nostrum" will perform at Alfa Jazz Fest 2017
A trio of "Mare Nostrum" will perform at the stage dedicated to Eddie Rosner on June, 27: Sardinian trumpeter Paolo Fresu, French accordionist Richard Galliano and Swedish pianist Jan Lundgren.
When the first album “Mare Nostrum” appeared in 2007, critics in many countries were unanimous in their opinion that these three musicians had found their way to forging something of timeless beauty. This “lyrical jazz ensemble with a keen sense of composure” (Downbeat, USA) had created “a wonderful album of genuine warmth” (Jazz Magazine, France) which poured forth “poetry and originality” (Süddeutsche Zeitung, DE). So different musicians have created in their music symbiosis of cultural heritages, found harmony in combining timbres of their instruments and have become one of the most popular groups in Europe. In addition, each of the musicians has a successful experience in different directions: Paolo Fresu participates in many projects from films to ballet, Richard Galliano freely feels like in jazz and the classics, and the pianist Jan Lundgren has recorded over 50 CDs as a leader and sideman.
Mare Nostrum II 'The Sound of Europe' ... .. Part Two, released in 2016, became one of the most anticipated albums of the year and marked the return of European supergroup.
