Kenny Barron Quintet will perform at Leopolis Jazz Fest on June 28
We will have a unique opportunity to hear in Ukraine for the first time the legend of jazz history, an American musician, composer, arranger, “the most lyric pianist of our time” - Kenny Barron.
The number of great jazzmen with whom he collaborated is impossible to enumerate. In the 60s, he played with Dizzy Gillespie, then with Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Turrentine, Milt Jackson and Buddy Rich. In the early 1970s, the pianist worked with Yusef Lateef, Ron Carter. In the 80s he collaborated with the great saxophonist Stan Getz and in the same years became a co-founder of the quartet “Sphere”, who played the music of the great Thelonious Monk.
The first album, Kenny Barron, released in 1974 and since then he has released as the leader more than 40 records. In 2005, his name was included in the Hall of Fame of American Jazz, he also won the MAC Lifetime Achievement Award. Kenny Barron is a six-time winner of the Best Pianist Award of the Jazz Journalists Association.
