International Jazz Festival Alfa Jazz Fest changes the festival name
In the framework of signing a Memorandum of Long-Term Cooperation with Lviv Municipal Council, the steering committee of Alfa Jazz Fest held negotiations with Alfa-Bank Ukraine, the founder and the chief sponsor, and reached agreement on amending the festival name and announcement of a tender to determine the general partner of the festival in 2018.
During 2017-2018, the festival will be rebranded, and its name will be changed from Alfa Jazz Fest for Leopolis Jazz Fest. In 2018, the festival will be held under a new brand.
Alfa Jazz Fest concerts are shot and broadcasted by the Europe's largest music channel, Mezzo; the festival entered the top 10 best jazz festivals in Europe according to The Guardian, as well as ratings of the best jazz festivals in the world according to the relevant leading jazz magazines, DownBeat and JazzTimes. In 2017, Alfa Jazz Fest starts cooperation with one of the largest UK radio stations, Jazz FM (UK).
The festival rebranding will allow entering a new stage in development of the most prominent cultural event in Ukraine and to avoid restrictions which arose due to the presence of a commercial brand name in the festival name.
"The festival was initiated by Alfa Bank Ukraine and its main shareholder Mykhailo Fridman. After the first festival, we agreed that a strong international brand can be built in terms of independence in decision-making and actions of the steering committee. Then Alfa-Bank Ukraine has assured us that we would get all required powers. We are grateful to Alfa-Bank Ukraine for the confidence and willingness to let us float. However, we expect that the bank will remain a friend of the festival. The absence of a commercial brands in the name will allow realizing the full potential of Alfa Jazz Fest and opening up new opportunities to attract patrons and partners," said the executive director of Alfa Jazz Fest, Natalia Horbachevska.
Immediately after the Alfa Jazz Fest 2017, a tender among potential general partners of the festival will be held.

Alfa Jazz Fest is an international jazz festival held annually in Ukraine on the last weekend of June. The first festival was held in 2011. The festival organizer is Leopolis Jazz LLC. The festival CEO is Natalia Horbachevska, and the creative curator is a jazz expert Oleksiy Kogan. The Advisory Board of the festival includes celebrities, including musician Svyatoslav Vakarchuk.
Each year, the festival is visited by about 70 thousand visitors from Ukraine and foreign countries. In 2016, Alfa Jazz Fest was recognized by a respected British publication, The Guardian, as one of the best jazz festivals in Europe. In 2017, the festival will be held on June 23-27.
