A Swiss violinist and Cuban-born vocalist, winner of the 2008 Montreux Jazz Festival Competition, Yilian Cañizares will present her project Yilian Cañizares – Invocación Tour on 26 June at the Stage on Rynok Square.
Her new programme washes away the boundaries between jazz, Afro-Cuban, classical music and other styles. Invocación (Challenge) shows all the diversity of her musical world – it is a passionate and magical album created by an artist who preserves her Cuban roots and never limits herself with clichés. ‘This is my most honest work, my true self-portrait, all my life experience in one, everything that has made me who I am.’
